Oak has been used by men since thousands years ago. Because of its durability and stability against the weather changes, Oak has always been a top choice for buildings, flooring, roofs even sailing ships. This is one of the reasons that Reclaimed Oak after 200 or 300 years of service, finds easily a new project to belong to. The other reason to keep re-using Oak is the way its grain and colour obtains a beautiful distinctive character along the years of weathering.
In Europe, a few number of companies, working under FSC Reclaimed control, collect these magnificent beams, wall planks and old flooring from demolished houses, cottages and churches. Rot and major defects are cross cut, visual nails are pulled. After sanding and a thin layer of varnish finishing, they are ready to be re-used for another 200 years.
There is an unlimited number of applications for Reclaimed Oak: not only reusing the beams for renovation of buildings, but also for making beautiful flooring lamellas, character cladding and noble table tops.
